Blood Libel from Al Awda co-founder Zahi Damuni

Dr. Zahi Damuni is the co-founder and the first executive director of the anti-Israel extremist group Al Awda.   He's well published, and has taught biochemistry at the university level.

You'd think he'd have some rudimentary research skills.

You'd be wrong.

Yesterday, Zahi Damuni  published a photo, claiming it represented the 1967 mass murder of Egyptian prisoners of war.

Blood libel.

The actual photo was taken during the Yom Kippur war, in 1973, by photographer Micha Bar-Am.  Its captioned  "Suez Canal.October 1973.  A trench with Egyptian prisoners of war captured by the Israelis along the banks of the Suez Canal."

This modern day blood libel  has been shared over 900 times, proving again that a lie can travel half-way across the world, before the truth gets a chance to put on its pants.

Incidentally Zahi Damuni has at least 3 separate Facebook accounts.   Not suspicious at all.

Lamis Deek spreads a modern day blood libel

Lamis Deek of the National Lawyers Guild has no trouble spreading a modern day blood libel.

Deek, an attorney, has forwarded a completely unsubstantiated article that claims:

A Palestinian child from Beit Furik town in Nablus survived certain death on Wednesday after Jewish settlers kidnapped and tortured him inside their settlement.

Local sources told reporters that eight-year-old Bashar Ghazal was found in the illegal Itamar settlement, handcuffed and injured as a result of his exposure to severe torture at the hands of extremist settlers.

The sources added that the Israeli occupation army handed over the boy to the Palestinian Authority liaison office on Wednesday night, confirming that the settlers brutally tortured the child and burned his skin with molten plastic.

No, Lamis Deek did not attempt to fact check before forwarding this modern day blood libel.

The truth, via the Times of Israel 

The Israeli military handed over to Palestinian police an apparently mentally challenged Palestinian child who walked up to the fence of a Jewish settlement in the northern West Bank on Wednesday, the army said.

The 8-year-old child was spotted walking in an area adjacent to the Itamar settlement, near Nablus, on Wednesday morning. IDF troops were called out to investigate.

When the soldiers started speaking with the boy, who apparently had a mental disability, they noticed that his body was covered in “signs of harsh physical abuse,” an army spokesperson said.

The child told them that he was being abused at home,” the spokesperson said.

According to the Palestinian Authority mouthpiece Safa, the signs of abuse included burns from molten plastic being poured on him.

The army dismissed reports in Palestinian media that the boy was kidnapped and beaten by settlers at Itamar. The spokesperson noted that at no point did the boy enter the settlement nor did settlers approach him.

The child was identified by Palestinian media as Bashar Abd al-Ghazal of the nearby village of Beit Furik.

According to Safa, al-Ghazal’s father died on Wednesday. The news site did not elaborate.

The IDF spokesperson said the soldiers gave the child “water, food and grape juice” before handing him over to PA security services.

Asoomii Jay spreads modern day blood libel

Assma Galuta, known to her YouTube Fans as Asoomii Jay, is a self described  "activist, blogger, model, and designer."

Asoomii Jay's Facebook page has 298,991  "likes"  and apparently she has a significant following.

On her facebook page, she posts this image, and writes

"This is not a shot from a movie; this is a heart breaking and outrageous image of Palestinian youth who just got shot in his chest by the terrorist Zionist army.
He died with pride, with dignity, and his head up facing this world full of hypocrisy and brutality.
Rest in peace.
May Allah grant you paradise.”

Except, Asoomii, that it is a scene from a movie.

This is how hate goes viral.  Please contact Asoomii Jay and let her know that the fake image she has circulated (that has been shared, as of now,  over 2,800 times) is from a movie, and in the interest of truth, it needs to be removed and  retracted.

So many Palestinian "activists" live in a truth optional world. She may not respect the request, but at least she won't be able to claim that she didn't know.

Anti-Israel activist David Zirin sports a new blood libel

From the Olympic charter: "The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play."

Anti-Israel activist David Zirin is leading the vanguard to deprive Israelis of their human rights by asking international bodies to discriminate against Israelis based on their national origin. He is hardly an impartial party.

A recent article by Zirin published in the Nation comes darned close to blood libel, continuing the egregious and anti-Semitic meme of Israel shooting Palestinian children for sport. Never mind in this case that the two "children" in question were older teen aged boys who may have been planting a bomb at the time.

He writes " This is only the latest instance of the targeting of Palestinian soccer players by the Israeli army and security forces"

No, David. They were not targeted because they were "soccer players". They were targeted because they were seen allegedly planting a bomb.

This article describing the arrests is in Haaretz and was written Amira Haas, another "journalist" not exactly known for her objectivity. Yet it comes closer to the objective truth than Zirin's propaganda leaden missive.

Two Palestinians have been hospitalized in Jerusalem since Friday after they were shot and arrested by Border Police forces amid claims they were going to throw a bomb. The two Palestinians are under guard in Hadassah University Hospital, Ein Karem, have been operated on for their gunshot wounds, and will remain there until their treatment is finished. They deny the claims made against them, and contend that the Border Patrol forces shot them, sent attack dogs to chase them, beat them with their rifle butts, and punched and kicked them.

Attorney Tarek Barghout, from Palestinian Authority prisoners’ ministry, visited the two men in the hospital twice. One of them, Barghout says, was hit by many bullets and had a bite wound on his arm. The lawyer told Haaretz that the two suspects told him they bought cigarettes at a nearby store and were shot as soon as they lit a match. Immediately after, they were attacked by dogs. They claim the Border Police troops beat them, then dragged them to the base – 300 meters from where they were attacked. They claim they were beaten inside the base as well.

Adam Jamous, 17, and Jawahar Halbiyeh, 19, are residents of Abu Dis, a town east of Jerusalem. Last Thursday evening they were en route to visit a friend in a neighborhood close to a Border Police base. An Abu Dis resident told Haaretz that before midnight, residents heard a lot of gunfire and saw dogs attacking the two men when they looked out the window.

Dave Zinin does not get the men’s names correct. He asserts Jawhar and Adam were "on their way home from a training session in the Faisal al-Husseini Stadium" because having them buying cigarettes doesn’t add to the illusion of their wholesome victimhood. And he just can’t bear to have them treated in the world renowned Hadassah Hospital and instead puts them  in a Jordanian hospital. Dave- Would a Jordanian hospital have Hebrew writing on the sheets ? Would a Jordanian hospital use sheets adorned with Jewish stars?

In response to inquiries, a Border Police spokesman said, "During operational activity, a group of individuals was seen just seconds before throwing bombs at security forces. When they saw the Border Policemen, the group attempted to run away and tried again to throw bombs at the policemen. The policemen initiated the protocol for opening fire in order to neutralize the threat. The suspects were apprehended, and a bomb was found on them, which has been deactivated."

A Hadassah spokesman said the two "were admitted on Friday morning and are being held in the orthopedics unit. Their condition is stable. They were operated on, and are receiving all necessary treatment."

 Dave Zirin loses all credibility as a journalist with this current piece. Will there be a retraction? I'm not holding my breath.

Blood Libel du jour: 10 year old Palestinian girl killed by psychological trauma

Oh, those pesky, pesky Zionists. Able to kill a young girl in perfect health, with their dastardly Zionist mind tricks. Whats next? Did they harvest her organs? Use her blood for their baked goods?

After Abeer got back home to Hebron, she started knocking hysterically on pieces of furniture in the house all the time until her right hand became weak. She refused to eat and kept calling for her father, he added. All specialist doctors who saw Abeer diagnosed her condition as psychological, and the girl’s health deteriorated till she became totally paralysed and had to be hospitalised when she lapsed into a coma.

The scary part is that people read this, believe it, pass it on and saturate the web with it. Anyone expect this case to be written up in a peer reviewed medical journal any time soon? No, me neither.

Protest at the Swedish Consulate—Demand Condemnation of the Blood Libel!

The left-wing Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet published an article on August 17 by reporter Donald Bostrom alleging that Israeli soldiers were kidnapping and killing Palestinians in order to harvest organs to be used for transplanation. As documented in the Jerusalem Post, Bostrom freely admits that he has no evidence whatsoever to back up this blood libel, but indicted that it is up to Israelis to prove innocence in this matter. When the Swedish Ambassador to Israel rightfully condemned this hate speech hiding behind the curtain of "free speech", she was condemned back home in Sweden where some members of the government urged her recall.

The government of Sweden has refused to condemn the blood libel, on grounds of "freedom of the press." Yet Sweden apparently has no problems censoring free speech when it is militant Muslims who are upset—in 2006, the Swedish Foreign Minister shut down a website displaying cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed.

We are not asking the Swedish government to take any legal action against either Bostrom or Aftonbladet. A simple condemnation of this unfounded accusation, that echoes blood libels against Jews through the ages, is all that was asked of the government of Sweden by the government of Israel.

We will be handing out flyers to publicize the Swedish government's refusal to condemn this blood libel. We will have flags and some signs; please feel free to bring signs with statements such as "Sweden: Condemn the Blood Libel" and "Sweden: Condemn Hate Speech." Please note that our protest is targeted at the government of Sweden rather than Swedish citizens or individuals of Swedish descent. Do not bring signs or graphics offensive to any racial or ethnic group including but not limited to Arabs, Islam, or Palestinians in general. Signs in violation of our policies do not help the pro-Israel cause and will not be allowed.
