Anti-Semitic hate crimes increased by over 21 percent in California in 2018 from the previous year.
A report issued this week by the California Department of Justice, Hate Crime in California 2018 has published statistics on hate crimes reported by California law enforcement agencies that occurred during the year.
There were 126 "bias events" motivated by anti-Semitism in 2018, up from 104 incidents in 2017. During the same period, Anti-Islamic (Muslim) bias events fell from 46 in 2017 to 28 in 2018.
There was an overall 2.5% decrease in bias crimes from the previous year, with a total of 1,066 hate crimes in California in 2018, down from 1,093 the previous year.
