Gravity: It still works. Even for the Palestinians.

No, gravity is not one of the laws that can be ignored as "Palestine exception."

The Palestinian National Council for Promoting Values is now promoting the concept that "what goes up must come down", and is encouraging people to refrain from "celebratory gunfire".

Who would ever have guessed that shooting in the air is harmful behavior that could possibly hurt someone? Yet in the Palestinian territories it takes a public service campaign to get the message across that gravity still works.

A fatwa had been issued earlier, but it had been largely ignored.

Fatwa: The reign of shooting in the air
Shooting shots on occasions, such as joys, success, and funerals, is legally forbidden, a Muslim is not permitted to do so; for the following five reasons:

1. These actions include harm to Muslims without right; they may cause infallible death, or injury, and one of the reasons for the deserving of painful punishment, the Almighty said: {And those who harm the believers and the believer without gaining, have lost Endure slander and manifest sinthmạ [Parties: 58].

2. The intimidation of the Muslim is forbidden and of the great, and the shooting in the air is not without intimidation of women, children and passers by; Abdul Rahman bin Abi Layla said: The owners of Muhammad peace be upon him told us that they were with the Prophet (peace be upon him) Peace be upon him, a man of them fell asleep, so some of them went to a rope with him, and he took him, so he panicked, and said, ′′ Peace be upon him, ′′ It is not possible for a Muslim to terrorize a Muslim ′′ (Abu Dawood: 5004), and about my father Huraira (May Allah be pleased with him) said: (Whoever refers to his brother with iron, the angels curse him until he calls him, even if his brother to his father and mother) (Muslim: 2616).

3. Islam has forbidden to carry arms exposed; lest it harm Muslims accidentally; for the hadith of Abi Musa, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: (If anyone passes in our mosque or in our market with nobility, let's catch On her blade, or he said: Let his palm be arrested if one of the Muslims afflicts something) (Bukhari: 452, and Muslim: 2615).

As the law forbids pointing arms at a Muslim; lest it remove his hand; Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, said: (No one points to his brother with weapons, he does not know anyone may Satan takes off in his hand, and falls into a pit of fire) (Bukhari: 7072, and Muslim: 2617; how can he who uses weapons, and fires in the air, and between alleys, and in the roads?!

4. Shooting in the air is a waste of money in his legitimate face, and this is a forbidden waste, Allah forbade him by saying: {Indeed, the wasteful were brothers of demons and Satan was for his Lord is honorable} [Isra: 27].

5. The possession of weapons is a law to defend religion, to lie about souls and symptoms, and to provide it to the jihad for the sake of Allah from the power we have been commanded to prepare, it cannot be used in vain and oppression, otherwise it will become a use of weapons There is no intention, and in this is disbelievers, and God forbid.

According to the above: The shooter in the air is legitimately sinful, and guarantor of all that reckless acts of people's lives and property, and if shooting in the air kills a soul - God's destiny - it is semi-intentional killing, In which the penalty is severe; he deliberately fires without legitimate need, knowing that he is a thought of destroying souls.

The judicial and police authorities are also legally required to prevent these mischievous acts; the consequent corruption that harm people in their souls, their eternal and their money, and it is known that the duty of the Sultan is to preserve the interests of Muslims; to bring benefits to them, and pay Corrupting them, allowing fools to shoot shots on different occasions is a great corruption.

God Almighty knows.

As of this week, the campaign appears to be a failure. A paramedic was wounded near Nablus, and given the nature of the wound, it likely from "celebratory gunfire".

Killing their own or wounding their own may not actually matter to the Palestinians because they can always blame Israeli "snipers" and the world will believe them.

The shameless hypocrisy of Jewish Voice for Peace.

Chapter 458 in the shameless hypocrisy of Jewish Voice for Peace.

NYU 's Jewish Voice for Peace branch is recruiting using a poster with the tagline  "Wherever we live that's our homeland."

Its meant, of course to deny the Jewish people's deep cultural and spiritual ties with Israel, our ancient homeland.

Would Jewish Voice for Peace use the tagline "Wherever we live that's our homeland" for the Palestinians?   JVP believes in the mythical "right of return", and  certainly does not consider the generations of Palestinians living in Syria, in Jordan and in Lebanon at "home."

Why does JVP have a different set of standards for the Jewish people than it has for the Palestinians?

Thats the real Palestine exception.

The Palestine Exception: Free Speech for me, but not for thee

From Ollie Benn, Executive Director of San Francisco State University Hillel:

An unfortunate and embarrassing incident happened today on SF State's campus.

A high profile political figure was shouted down and prevented from speaking. Many students came to hear Jerusalem Mayor Nir Birkat, as they had previously for other Hillel speakers this year representing a wide array of views. But a small group of hecklers came today solely to prevent the campus community from hearing a viewpoint they did not like. Unfortunately they succeeded.

There is a concerning trend that college campuses are not spaces where diverse viewpoints are tolerated. Recently, we have seen acts of outright hostility and physical aggression when one person did not agree with the views of another on campus.

We've tried incredibly hard at SF Hillel to be a responsible partner on campus for civil discourse, and to contribute to a more positive environment for dialogue, tolerance and education. Today's disappointing events demonstrate that one party alone cannot effect change; it requires the commitment of the entire University community to create a diverse place of learning that is tolerant, respectful and dedicated to its academic mission.

We are working with our partners on and off campus, and will provide further updates in the coming days and weeks. We will ensure that campus continues to be a space that promotes the robust exchange of ideas.

We are once again proud of our Hillel students who were not intimidated by today's interruptions. Even though the Mayor could not continue his public remarks, many Hillel students stayed to learn from Mayor Barkat in a smaller group, and to ask him their earnest and challenging questions, over the shouts of those who tried to silence them.

From Hillel International:

Hillel International joins San Francisco Hillel (SF Hillel) in expressing our outrage that Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat was shouted down and prevented from speaking at San Francisco State University this evening. It is incumbent on all university leaders to ensure that diverse voices are treated with respect on campus and that attempts to forcibly prevent free speech not be tolerated.
“Colleges and universities cannot allow a vocal minority to inhibit the free speech of others and prevent the free exchange of ideas to which our higher education system is based,” said Eric D. Fingerhut, president and CEO of Hillel International. “We will work with the administration at San Francisco State University, as well as college administrators across the country, to ensure that distinguished speakers such as Mayor Barkat are welcomed on campus and given the opportunity to freely express their views.”

In response to the incident, Nir Barkat stated.

"Anyone who thinks that calls for violence and incitement will be able to silence us or divert us from our position is mistaken," Barkat said in response to the incident. "We will continue to build, develop and strengthen the State of Israel and within it a united Jerusalem and we will continue to voice our opinions and our legitimacy when we are invited to do so, even in places where they try to stop us."

The Palestine Exception

Via Emunah:

Three dozen student and community members gathered in Boalt Hall  on October 5  to hear a panel presentation on the launch of a new campaign, Palestine Exception. The name is aptly chosen. Particularly on campus, Palestinians and their supporters have come to regard themselves as exceptional, and above the rules.

Speaking were Liz Jackson of the Palestine Legal Solidarity, a branch of the Center for Constitutional research (CCR) that offers free legal advice and representation only to Palestinian activists.  In spite of a repressive climate on campuses for students nationwide, the only ones are covered under the largess of this organization are Palestinian activists. That’s the Palestine Exception.

Cheryl Davila, the Berkeley Human Welfare Commissioner fired from her post for bypassing the poor of Berkeley in favor of the Palestinians exhorted the room to attend  a city of Berkeley Oct 21 divestment vote, and to sign the anti-Israel petition. When it comes to Palestine, you don’t even need to be a Berkeley resident to weigh in on how Berkeley spends its time and money. That’s the Palestine Exception.

Lara Kiswani of the Arab resource and Organizing Center was vocal in her support of convicted terrorist and Jew-killer Rasmea Odeh, who lied on her US immigration papers and faces deportation. Filing out government documents truthfully is apparently optional for Palestinian community activists.  That’s the Palestine Exception.

Lee Garagliano of the IJAN gave a baffling presentation which concluded that many Jewish philanthropists donated heavily to Jewish and pro-Israel causes, and that this is part of a broad and vast conspiracy targeting Palestinian activists and Muslims.  Think everything always revolves around you? That’s the Palestine Exception

Kumars Salehi, a UC Berkeley Graduate student  described disciplinary proceeding against SJP after his group “violated a tiny rule”.  Yes, THIS Kumars Salehi.  Tweeting from the Berkeley SJP account he boasted of his role in covering up posted material placed by other student groups. Now he complains about his voice being silenced.

SJP and its allies believe that long established campus protocols don’t apply to them. That’s the real Palestine Exception.
