Israel signs $15 billion gas deal with Jordan
On Wednesday, Israel signed a
memorandum of understanding with Jordan, promising to supply the nation with
$15 billion dollars worth of natural gas from its Leviathan fields over the
next 15 years.
The Leviathan fields, discovered in 2010 are estimated to hold 16 trillion cubic feet of gas, enough to meet Israel's gas demands for the next 100 years. This agreement will make Israel Jordans’ main supplier of natural gas. Israel’s Energy and Water Minister Silvan Shalom hailed the agreement as“a historic act that will strengthen the economic and diplomatic ties between Israel and Jordan.”
The Palestine Power Generation Company, which will purchase some $1.2 billion-worth of gas over the next 20 years has already committed to becoming the first buyer of natural gas from Israel’s Leviathan field.
The discovery of the Leviathan field and the smaller Tamar field leave Israel poised to become a major world player in the natural gas market.

From Jordan state TV :"The arrogance of the Jews will be defeated"
Yeah, its all about the "occupation". No anti-Semitism involved. Even in "moderate" Jordan
A Jordanian cleric, Imam Ghaleb Rabab’a delivered a Friday sermon on state TV, declaring that Jordan’s army will destroy Israel and regain Jerusalem from the “killers of prophets”, adding "The [Jordanian] army is invincible. Its units are filled with people who pray, with imams, and with people who memorized the Koran. This army will never be defeated, Allah willing.”
The following footage was translated and released late last week by the Middle East Media Research Institute.

"Article 11 of the 1994 Israel-Jordan peace treaty calls on both countries “to abstain from hostile or discriminatory propaganda against each other, and to take all possible legal and administrative measures to prevent the dissemination of such propaganda by any organization or individual present in the territory of either party.”

Tefillin Banned In Jordan
Further putting the regional conflict into context. At IMRA:
Makor Rishon correspondents Avinadav Vitkin and Asaf Gabor reported in the 19 January edition that Jordan continues to ban the entry of tefillin (phylacteries) into Jordan by Israeli tourists.
A veteran tour guide recommended that religious tourists enter Jordan via the Eilat-Aqaba border as the ban is not strictly enforced there.
The Jordanian Foreign Ministry told the reporters that they are in contact with Jordanian authorities trying to lift the ban but that there are a number of elements in the Jordanian establishment who are preventing it.
I'm curious to know what the worst thing that could happen if Israelis bring tefillin into Jordan. Actually, I'm kind of curious to know if there's any way at all to spin this as being something other than simple anti-Semitism.
