Anti-Semitism at San Francisco Jewish Community Celebration Protest

Both the EU's working definiton of anti-Semitism, and the US State departments definition echo the same theme "Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis" can be considered anti-Semitism.

From the weblog of Norm Geras:

"these Nazi-analogy critics don't generally apply their favoured analogy elsewhere than in the Israeli case, they don't often use potentially apt comparisons between Israel and other cases that would be less hateful to Jews, and they use the analogy precisely to magnify the parallels and minimize the discrepancies between Israel and Nazism. I submit, therefore, that there are strong grounds for seeing a certain malice in use of the analogy, and as this malice is aimed specifically, aimed by the very particularity of its shape, at Jews, it is hard to know what else to call it but anti-Semitism."

***************

On June 10, 15,000 people joined together for our Jewish community celebration, Israel in the Gardens. Men, women and children waited in long humiliating "checkpoints" to get in to the festivities, and found themselves subject to invasive dehumanizing searches, all in the name of security. No one complained.

Bay Area Zionists waiting at a security checkpoint

And yes, a few dozen aging activists decided to protest. From their "free speech zone", located appropriately enough in the gutter, once again, as they do every year, the "peace activists" crossed the line into anti-Semitism

And again, we need to ask the question. Why do these so-called "peace activists" proudly proclaim their Judaism (even when they aren't) while they continue enable, encourage and tolerate anti-Semitism at their events?

"Peace" groups call for protest of Jewish Community celebration

They call themselves a "peace" group. Bay Area Women in Black just issued an alert calling for a protest of San Francisco's Jewish Community Celebration. And why would any group object to a gathering of community non-profits, crafts and music?

Mr. Binder Clips said it best. Or maybe worse.
"Its the Jews, Stupid"

Women in Black's announcement follows:
IMPORTANT! Sun, Jun 10, 12-1:30 pm, SF: Yearly silent vigil to protest “Jewish Community Celebration” at “Israel in the Gardens.” SFPD-designated “Free speech zone” on South side of Mission St. in front of Yerba Buena Gardens.

============================================================

I shouldn't be surprised. After all, this is the group that sponsored Gilad "Burning synagogues can be a rational act" Atzmon for his first Bay area appearance. This is a group that routinely stands by the worse anti-Semites in the area, smiling cheerfully while their allies chant "Itbah Al-yahud" - Slaughter the Jews. This is a group that called the police because they felt "threatened" by a young rabbi and small children singing songs of peace.

Women in Black will be joined by their partners in slime "Jewish voice for Peace". And no doubt their allies from Al Awada and the ISM will show up too.

Its about the Jews, Stupid.

Let there be no doubt in your mind. A protest of day schools, women's groups, summer camps and religious institutions- the wide umbrella of the local Jewish community will be at Yerba Buena Gardens on Sunday June 10- is nothing less than anti-Semitism. Harrassing and intimidating the young families paticipating in joyous communal celebration is anti-Semitism.

Its about the Jews, Stupid.

UPDATE:

Dancing. Singing Art. Music. The releasing of doves in a prayer for peace. This is what the Women in Black were protesting.

Bay Area Women in Black are up to their old lies.

Obsessed by the eternal cult of victimization that the Palestinians embrace, Bay Area women in Black can't possible conceive that the Palestinians might actually be complicit in perpetuating the conflict in the Middle East. They never seem to notice the almost daily incitement of hate, the indoctrination of children on Palestinian government run television, the words of the very leaders of the Palestinians calling for the genocide of the Jewish people.

Bay Area women in Black routinely rewrite history in their flyers, protest Jewish cultural events and stand shoulder to shoulder with the most egregious anti-Semites. They consider themselves a peace group, but their vision of peace is a world without Israel.

The Bay Area Women in Black have recently endorsed the Global March to Jerusalem. From their email:

Friday, Mar 30, Jerusalem: Global March (GMJ) to protest ethnic cleansing (“Judaization”) of Jerusalem, arising from Jerusalem mayor Nir Barakat’s declaration that 70,000 Palestinian residents of Jerusalem are now “non-residents”. Click here to register as part of the North American GMJ association of volunteer participants in the march. BAWiB endorses this march.

To Tom Browne, Elena Dykewoman, Judith Berlowitz, Barbara Zoloth, Jean Pauline, Rob "Odd job" Kantor and other members of Bay Area Women in Black:

The Global march to Jerusalem, an assault on Israel's sovereignty and her borders is orchestrated by leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood working side by side with Bay area "activists" including Paul Larudee and the late Scott Kennedy, of less than blessed memory. The March made its debut in the blogs sphere on Aug 26. 2011. We first wrote about the Global March to Jerusalem in November. At that point, it had clearly been months in the planning.

In December Mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barakat simply asked to cede municipal control over some neighborhoods in the eastern part of the city. In spite of the protest of "genocide" and "ethnic cleansing", its simply not the case. The Barakat plan is unlikely to progress because of opposition on both the left and the right.

From YNET

"Coalition chairman Zeev Elkin (Likud) said Barkat's plan could jeopardize Jerusalem's unity. "The areas he wants to cede are under the State of Israel's sovereignty and are protected under Basic Law: Jerusalem, Capital of Israel and the referendum law, which was passed by the current Knesset," he said.

Bay Area Women in Black once again have distorted truth to perpetuate the myth of Palestinian victimhood. Obsessed with their hatred of all things Israeli, and all things Jewish, they have blinded themselves to truth and justice.

"Peace Loving People" Like these?

Bay Area activists are laughing about this recent mailing from Bay Area Women in Black, who have joined with "Jewish" Voice for Peace, Al Awda, the Middle east Childrens Alliance, the Arab Resource Organizing center and other anti-Israel groups in planning a disruption of a local Jewish community fair, scheduled for tomorrow.

"This is a reminder that, barring a heavy downpour, BAWiB will join with JVP-Bay Area and other peace-loving people tomorrow, to remind the celebrants at Israel in the Gardens that their party coincides with the end of the 1967 war and the beginning of escalated occupation of Palestine. "

Peace Loving? Bay Area Women in Black is describing groups that have chanted:
“Itbach al Yahud” (slaughter the Jews)
“Falastin balad’na w’al Yahud qalab’na” Palestine is our land and the Jews are our dogs

“ba ruh, ba dam, nafdeek ya Falastin” (with our soul, with our blood, we will cleanse you oh Palestine),
“al mawt al Yahud” (death to the Jews),
“Khaybar Khaybar ya Yahud, jaish-Muhammad saya’ud” (Khaybar Khaybar oh Jews, the army of Muhammad will return).

Peace loving people like these, who cornered 5 pro-Israel activists in San Francisco and attacked them across the police barricade?

Peace loving people like the ones who posted this, along with the home addresses of pro-Israeli activists throughout the Internet, following the mysterious death of Dr. Dan Kliman?

"It was such a shame to hear about that "accidental" (wink wink) demise of Mr. Dan "Slimen" Kliman. Fortunately the peace movement will never have to deal with that piece of trash again. Someone up there (or out there...?) is apparently watching the actions of such people and rendering appropriate justice. That would make me worry if I were doing anything like he did...
;-)"?

Peace Loving people like this young man?

These are videos and Photos from Rallies in the San Francisco bay Area. These were taken at events endorsed by Bay Area Women in Black and "Jewish" Voice for peace. These so called "peace groups" in reality serve as shields and enablers for the the most anti-Semitic Jew-haters in the Bay Area. Tomorrow at Israeli in the Gardens promises to be no exception.

Aipac protests in the Bay Area

As happens every year, the usual pack of brainwashed supporters of extremist Islamic misogyny and Jew-hate will be out protesting in front of the AIPAC dinners in the Bay Area. Such 'protests' are usually forums for mayhem and socially approved bigotry among a certain class.

This year's sponsors of hatred and opportunistic thuggism in front of hotels:
Progressive Democrats of America-East Bay• Middle East Study Group• Middle East Children’s Alliance • Bay Area Women in Black • Students for Justice in Palestine • 14 Friends of Palestine • Richmond Progressive Alliance • American Friends Service Comm. • Code Pink • Jewish Voice for Peace • ANSWER- SF Bay Area • Friends of Deir Ibzi’a.

Conspicuously absent from any mention is the International Solidarity Movement. That does NOT mean that they do not have any thoughts regarding the matter.

THE ISM?

A dynamite piece in the Contra Costa Times perfectly highlights how utterly despicable some of the people on the anti-Israel side really are.

Quote:
PAUL LARUDEE writes in the Times (Dec. 4) to lament that people in the East Bay will be breaking bread with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). What Larudee does not tell his readers is that he has repeatedly bragged about sharing the bed of a suicide bomber, who had committed mass murder, and that he is a prominent member of the anarchist International Solidarity Movement.

Quote:
This group routinely works with such terrorist groups as Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Larudee justifies violence as long as the dead and injured are Jews. He is so obsessed with Israel that he helped organized the Gaza Flotilla that was seeded with Islamist fanatics who sought and achieved martyrdom under the ruse of bringing aid to the Hamas-dominated territory.

That aid was so vital to the people of Gaza that Hamas has refused to accept it. It now rots in warehouses in Israel and Egypt.

Undeterred Larudee's latest obsession is to fly an airplane into Gaza in an effort to precipitate a new propaganda event. Larudee is neither a man of peace nor a human-rights activist.

He is a propagandist obsessed with the destruction of Israel by whatever means necessary. In 2006 his terrorist-loving ISM members were photographed carrying AK-47 machine guns, while standing next to members of the terrorist Al Asqa Martyr's Brigade. As someone who has proudly broken bread with
AIPAC, permit me to note some factual errors in Larudee's piece. AIPAC has neither supported nor opposed the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It has no positions on those, despite what Larudee says.

In a week when WikiLeaks clearly shows us that it is the Arabs, not the Israelis, who were actively calling for the Obama administration "to remove the head of the snake," Larudee tells us that Israel and AIPAC are the ones promoting war with Iran.

AIPAC supports a two-state solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict, with both states living in peace, harmony and mutual security. Larudee's anarchist ISM does not.

AIPAC and its predecessors have promoted a strong, mutually beneficial alliance between the United States and Israel. It was Israeli intelligence that gave the United States one of the greatest intelligence coups of the Cold War, the complete text of Khrushev's secret speech to the 20th Party Congress of the Soviet Union. It was Israel that turned over an intact Russian MiG to the United States and an entire working Soviet radar system. Israeli intelligence was the only Western intelligence service ever to pierce the workings of a Politburo and make them available to the United States.

This vital strategic relationship, made more important by contemporary events, has resulted in at least five "secret" American bases on Israeli soil. These bases are vital to American security in the war on terrorism.

Larudee's ISM promotes no one's interest, but its own. In November of 2005, the Arabs of Hebron asked their Orthodox Jewish neighbors to help them in getting rid of ISM activists, whose behavior had become patently offensive to the Arab community.

Larudee's ISM promotes propaganda events, fronts for terrorists, seeks Israel's destruction while he laments that our neighbors will break bread with an organization that promotes the mutual security interests of Israel and the United States, an organization that advocates a two-state solution based on peace and security.

Given a choice between breaking bread with AIPAC or sharing the bed of a suicide bomber, I believe most of us would choose to break bread with AIPAC.
[End quote.]

"AIPAC supports a two-state solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict, with both states living in peace, harmony and mutual security. Larudee's anarchist ISM does not."

In addition to the anti-Israel organizations listed above, there will be unaffiliated elements with their own agendas among the baying mob. In years past, threats were made towards attendees, and violent incidents occurred. We'll see if this year the Oakland and San Francisco Police Departments are prepared - they have at times been caught off guard by the venom and aggression displayed toward Jews, Israel, and America by the organized fronts and their allies.
I wish the supporters of Israel good luck, and fervently hope that they do not get accidentally caught up in any of the "direct action" planned for today and tomorrow.

Iranians claim: Israel behind Planned Koran Burning

As reported in the Jerusalem Post

Israel is behind a US Reverend's planned Koran burning, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said Thursday, according to the official Iranian news agency IRNA.

“The software for this plan was made by the Zionists following their defeats against Muslims and the Islamic world,” Manouchehr said in a meeting with foreign diplomats in Iran.

Why do you need software to burn a Koran? Won't a pack of matches do?

In the Bay area, the local JCC (Jewish Community Center) has planned a public Koran reading, in a show of solidarity and brotherhood:

On Saturday, September 11, a Florida minister, Terry Jones, together with 50 of his followers, is planning an act of religious hatred and intolerance, the public burning of copies of the Qur'an (the Muslim holy scriptures containing the words of the prophet Muhammad). This hateful act has been widely condemned around the world, including by General David Petraeus, commander of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.

In response, Or Hadash USA, a Jewish project concerned with constitutional issues, is organizing and sponsoring an interfaith public reading of the Qur'an on the same day. The event will take place at Ohlone Park, in Berkeley on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at 3:15 PM. Meet at the corner of Sacramento and Delaware at 3:15. We shall all symbolically stand with Muslim Americans and read aloud in English parts of the Qur'an, affirming that we will not stand by silently while others perpetrate un-American acts of hate in the name of patriotism or religion.

All people -- of any faith or no faith -- are welcome to join us. We will read and discuss the Qur'an for about 30 - 45 minutes. The official event will then end, but some of us may choose to stay and share our thoughts and feelings.

The park has facilities to entertain children while parents take part in the reading and discussion.

September 11 this year for Jews is Shabbat Shuvah, the Sabbath of returning and renewal between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. September 11th this year is also just after the last day of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting, prayer, purification, forgiveness and renewal. Materials about Ramadan will also be available for people to learn about this important Muslim observance. Please join us in standing up for religious coexistence and for the celebration of what we all can learn from people of varied faiths.

We hope the New Year will bring peace to the world.

Interestingly enough, bay Area Women in Black also sent out a notice promoting the Koran reading, but neglected to mention it was sponsored by the local JCC.

Bay Area Women in Black and Jewish Voice for Peace: “Proud to be Ashamed to be Jewish”

Bay Area Women in Black and Jewish Voice for Peace: the “Proud to be Ashamed to be Jewish” crowd are joining together to protest the Jewish cultural festival “Israel in the Gardens”. These groups are known for their overwhelming hypocrisy, routinely standing alongside the most viciously anti-Israel groups in the Bay area. Bay Area Women in Black and Jewish Voice for Peace both endorse the Boycott Sanctions and Divestment Movement and support the Palestinian “right of return”, calling for the demographic destruction of the state of Israel. Last year Bay Area Women in Black sponsored notorious anti-Semite Gilad Atzmon in a fund raiser for the International Solidarity Movement,. proving to the world that while they'd never support Zionism, holocaust deniers were just fine. Once again participants from Jewish summer camps, days schools, non-profits and synagogues will be forced to walk a gauntlet of hate as the twenty or so protesters will insist that only their voice matters, and er, just ignore those inconsequential 20,000 participants beyond the gate.

Their email follows: (my comments in italics)

Those of you who have done this before know that the people of Voice for Israel/Stand With Us

You’ve been standing opposite us for 5 years now. And yet you still get the name wrong. Its no wonder something as complicated as Middle east History is far beyond your intellectual capacity. Its Stand With Us/ San Francisco Voice for Israel. We’ll expect you’ll get it wrong again next year
.

can be very aggressive.

We are so very very scary. We’ll never forget the time when Bay Area Women in Black was so threatened by our motley group of Holocaust survivors, aging hippies, children and Rabbis singing songs of peace that they called the Oakland police .

Two years ago some of their members (including some of the youngsters)

The very scary and aggressive youngsters? Like this one?

invaded our line and tried to provoke us to react to their taunts of “self-hating,” “traitor,” “terrorist,” etc.

Children holding signs! Anything but children holding signs! No! Not that!

Although it wasn't easy for some of us, we remained silent and made no response to them at all, thereby avoiding confrontation.

Trouble is Judith, while you are bothered and offended by youngsters holding signs in support of Israel, you seem less concerned about the actions of other youngsters, like these Palestinian children practicing "non-violent resistance"

We hope this year that the S.F. Police will be a bit more vigilant than they were the last time in keeping the VOI people from getting into our line, but we're letting you know what may happen so it isn't a "surprise" if it does.

Here’s a hint, Judith. Stay across the street. Don’t interfere with people entering the festival. Thats the way to avoid confrontation.
