One of the flotilla activists, dubbed "Flotidiots" by our friend at Elder of Ziyon is Kit Kittredge Siemion, aka Kit Siemion-Kittredge, aka Kit Kittredge
She works with CodePink, Ground Zero Center for Nonviolence, Veterans for Peace, the Palestine Solidarity Committee and most recently has been involved with the failed Port Townsend co-op boycott attempt.
Just curious, Kit- if Gaza is an open air prison, how can a little old 'activist' from Oregon can go in and out at will - after all, you've visited Gaza 5 times in two years?
I think it's time to be brutally honest. Slowly eliminating these enemies of Israel is not working. We need to rid ourselves of them completely, once and for all!! Sure, the 'international community', whatever the hell that is, will scream. But, once the dust settles, Israel will have the facts on the ground it has sought since the beginning of the Zionist movement - a pure Jewish state on God's promised land!
ReplyDeleteYour plan, anonymous, would go against everything that Judaism holds dear.
ReplyDeleteRemember the vision of our ancestors as well as the words of Israel's declaration of Independence:
THE STATE OF ISRAEL will be open for Jewish immigration and for the Ingathering of the Exiles; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture; it will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions; and it will be faithful to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
Very nice, Dusty. But how does any of that relate to the reality of the Zionist state?
ReplyDeleteZionism is about Jewish purity. It cannot "--- ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion -----" etc. If you embrace Zionism you must reject all of the idealistic concepts that you espouse. You can't have both, i.e. the Jewish state and the pluralistic society that you are embracing.
It's that simple.
Zionism is about Jewish self determination- the belief that the Jewish people have the right to self determination in their ancient homeland. Its that simple.
ReplyDeleteYou can be a commited Zionist and still believe the Palestinians have the right to a homeland. You can be a commited Zionist and disagree strongly and passionately with the politics of any particular Israeli administration.
Its all about self determination.
I was speaking to the ideals that Dusty embraces, i.e. social, political and religious equality, etc. These ideals are anathema to Zionism, which depends upon maintaining dominance over non-Jews in order to preserve the Jewish state. Israeli Arab voters can never be allowed to exceed Jewish voters in Israel or the Jewish state dies. That, of course, is why Jews must be enticed to make Aliyah, while those Arabs that left the area because of the 1948 wars, or their decedents, must never be allowed to return. It's also why settlements must be expanded and Arabs forced to leave the West Bank to make room for a dominant Jewish population.
ReplyDeleteLet's not be blind to Israel's reality. Zionism and 'equality' simply cannot co-exist.
Israel is not the state of the Jewish religion. Israel is the state of the Jewish people.

Great definition of Zionism
"Zionism is the national revival movement of the Jewish people. It holds that the Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture. Historically, Zionism strove to create a legally recognized national home for the Jews in their historical homeland. This goal was implemented by the creation of the State of Israel. Today, Zionism supports the existence of the state of Israel and helps to inspire a revival of Jewish national life, culture and language. "
Great, but none of that speaks to my points above!
ReplyDeleteWe get caught up in the 'fantasy' of Zionism without looking at the facts on the ground. To implement the Zionist dream, someone has had to pay a steep price. It's not just a basic truth of Zionism, it's a basic truth of all new nations. Indigenous peoples must be eliminated - or, at least, kept under tight control - and immigration limited only to those who would advance the interests of the new, more advanced civilization. Domination and control over weaker and backward peoples is part of the historical march of civilizations.
This is what the historian Benny Morris tries to drive home. Why can't we all just acknowledge this basic truth?
Gee, whiz. I was hoping if I ignored you, you'd just go away. Frankly, I have no intention of publishing the fake "quotes" you submitted- they've all been widely discredited as lies, going back to original source material, yet your ilk persist in bringing them up
ReplyDeleteLets start with the first quote... from Ben Gurion and the Palestinian Arabs by Shabtai Teveth.
I happen to have the book in front of me. It says
From page 5. "the land belonged to those prepared to work it and develop it, and it was immoral to deny a dynamic people the opportunity to better the country through its own labors. We have the right to build and be built in Palestine; we will win the country by building it..." These were the credos he etched in Zionist doctrine."
"...the Arab community in Palestine is an organic, inseparable part of the landscape. It is embedded in the country. The Arabs work the land and will remain. Ben Gurion even held that the Arabs had full rights in Palestine, "since the only right by which a people can claim to posess a land indefinately is the right conferred by the willingness to work"
p. 28 With the help of the Jews, the Arabs would prosper.... "We are building and revitalizing the country, wrote Ben Gurion...We will win the land through its reclaimation, and our renewal in this land will come through the renewal of the land itself, and that means the renewal of its Arab inhabitants."
So, anonymouse: how do you reconcile what the book says about Ben Gurion, a Zionist with the first quote in your list "We must expel the Arabs and take their places".
How do you reconcile these very real Ben Gurion quotes, with what you claim Zionism is?
